About:

Chase Gamblin is a vessel maker guided by process, layering, and an appreciation for the complexity that emerges through multiple stages of making. His work explores both maximalist and minimalist tendencies—some pieces revel in ornamentation and visual abundance, as seen in his Trophy Series, while others embrace quiet restraint, as in his atmospheric works.

Each vessel is composed of multiple thrown components, assembled with careful attention to proportion and the expressive potential of slip. The heavy slip application introduces movement and whimsy, allowing each piece to visually dance. Gamblin constantly contemplates form, volume, contour, texture, and the balance between positive and negative space. His work personifies the vessel—layered, complex, and reflective of human personality. Through repeated forms, applied slips, and built-up surfaces, he aims to infuse each piece with energy, rhythm, and life.
